One Teacher, One Student and a Mountain of Math

In this episode, I have the pleasure of talking with teacher, Evan Lent, who went on a self-discovery journal and took a student along with him. Evan was a new teacher working with a middle schooler who struggled a lot with math and resisted Evan's efforts to "teach" him. It wasn't until Evan read Bob Sullo's book, Activating the Desire to Learn, that Evan completely changed his thinking. He went from wondering how he could get "Vontrell" to learn math to looking at Vontrell's needs that if met, might inspire him to want to learn math and that's exactly what happened. If you would like to contact Evan Lent, he can be reached by email at elent17@gmail.com.
